A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas, authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application in the estimated amount of $200,000.00 to the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, for the funding of FY2027 State Crisis Intervention Grant Program, Laredo FIRST (Frontline Integrated Response Safety Team). The grant performance period is October 01, 2026 through September 30, 2027. This funding will be utilized for overtime and equipment for the Behavioral Health Response Team. No local match is required. Funding will be accounted for in the Special Police Fund.

BACKGROUND
The purpose of the State Crisis Intervention Grant Program FY2027 funding announcement is for projects that promote the prevention, intervention, and reduction of crime and violence and provide essential crisis services to at-risk populations within Texas communities.
Federal Funds are authorized under the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act established by S. 2938 to the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP). All awards are subject to the availability of appropriated federal funds and any modifications or additional requirements that may be imposed by law. This grant does not require a local match.
