The council approved the current contract renewal on July 22, 2024, which will expire on July 31, 2026.

 

BACKGROUND

Dr. Arturo Garza-Gongora was appointed as the Medical Director of the Laredo Fire Department in 2013. He oversees Pre-Hospital Care and is responsible for establishing, implementing, and modifying care standards, as well as overseeing field medical practices and quality improvement initiatives. Under his leadership, the Laredo Fire Department has enhanced its policies and procedures, resulting in improved patient care and positive outcomes. Dr. Garza-Gongora plays a crucial role in the EMS Education program, ensuring that Laredo Fire Department students and paramedics are proficient in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills.
