A resolution of the City Council of The City of Laredo, Texas authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application in an amount not to exceed $2,000,000.00 to U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), under the 2024 Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) Grant program for adaptive systems for the City of Laredo Traffic Department. If awarded, grant will allow the use of funding for advanced data technology and applications to provide traffic relief along FM1472 focusing on safety, reliability, resiliency, equity and access, climate change, and integration. The grant program does not require a local match. The grant will be accounted for in the Capital Grants Fund.

BACKGROUND
Application for the 2023 Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) application was not selected for funding. The Department received feedback from USDOT on the 2023 application and will use the information to submit the new 2024 application.
