Authorizing the City Manager to accept and execute the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) FY2025 Section 5307 TX-2026-025-00 Operating Assistance and Preventative Maintenance grant in the amount of $8,675,521.00. This grant will cover operating and preventive maintenance expenses for fixed route and paratransit. The federal share is $4,786,494.00 and local match for $3,889,027.00. Funding for the local match will be funded by the Sales Tax Fund.

On June 16, 2025, the Laredo Mass Transit Board approved to submit the grant application to the FTA for the FY2025 Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula Program.
BACKGROUND
On May 5, 2025, FTA announced the availability of $20.5 billion for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 full-year funding detailed in apportionment tables that specify funding to states, urbanized areas, and Tribal governments based on statutory formulas. These funding provides support for transit throughout the United States.
