BACKGROUND
The Health and Human Services Commission contracts with the City of Laredo to provide public health services to residents of Laredo and Webb County through the City of Laredo Public Health Department. Through this partnership, the Public Health Department will implement a Community Mental Health Program that aligns with the mission, vision, and goals of the Texas Statewide Behavioral Health Strategic Plan; The program addresses gaps, goals, and strategies identified in the Strategic Plan, supports community programs providing mental health care services and treatment to individuals with mental illness; coordinates mental health care transition support services, enhances external stakeholder partnerships, fosters community collaboration, encourages greater continuity of care for individuals receiving services through a diverse local provider network, and reduces duplication of mental health services provided in the local service area.
