Consideration to approve the contract with SmartCom Telephone to install four data circuits for network redundancy, one per bridge, in the amount of $37,152.00 annually and a one-time installation fee of $1,000.00. This is a two-year agreement for a total amount of $74,304.00, commencing upon the installation of the circuits. There is also an annual voluntary extension - One twelve month term. This purchase shall be made through TIPS Cooperative RFP 230105 contract pricing. Funding is available through Laredo Bridge System Funds.

BACKGROUND
IST Department in conjunction with Smartcom Telephone will be installing, configuring and implementing a backup data circuit at each one of the four international bridges. The secondary circuits will provide each bridge with a failover network connection to minimize the possibility of a downtime event due to network loss. In the event where any of the bridge’s primary circuits experience an outage, the backup circuit will be brought online to provide business continuity for the affected bridge. Smartcom Telephone is being contracted to run the backup fiber line to each bridge. There is a monthly service cost that will be paid to Smartcom for ongoing maintenance and support, totaling $37,152.00 a year for all four circuits. TIPS Cooperative Contract pricing is in place. This is a two year agreement.
