PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION

City Council approved the grant award with Resolution #2026-R-74 on March 16, 2026.

 

BACKGROUND

The U.S. Border Patrol, Laredo Sector, and the Laredo Police Department (LPD) will combine efforts to bolster Homeland Security-related efforts in the Laredo Sector Area of Responsibility (AOR). 

Historically LPD has diligently coordinated efforts with the Office of Border Patrol Laredo Sector to safeguard the country’s borders through the Treasury Executive Office of Asset Forfeiture (TEOAF).  Therefore, this funding will be used to supplement the resources LPD has for officers to safeguard the country’s borders.
