This contract was necessary to repair a 36-inch sewer line break that occurred on September 26, 2025 and to replace 2 existing Manhole repairs. The emergency work ensured continuous sewer service to the South Laredo area. Funding for this contract is available in the 2022 Sewer Revenue Bond.

BACKGROUND
On September 26, 2025, the City experienced a major break on the existing 36-inch sewer line. As this line serves as one of the primary collectors to the South Laredo Wastewater Treatment Plant, it was imperative to address the break to prevent raw sewage from entering the Rio Grande River and causing contamination. Given that SAL Construction Management has working on previous sewer line project, is familiar with the City’s system, and had the necessary equipment readily available, the City engaged them to perform the emergency repair.
