Title: A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas authorizing the City Manager to ratify the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $21,443.56 from the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division for the FY2026 Violence Against Women Justice and Training Program Grant, Crimes Against Women Project. BACKGROUND
The Violence Against Women Justice and Training Program Grant is offered through the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division. The purpose of this funding is to promote a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to improve the justice system's response to violent crimes against women. These crimes include domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. This program will enhance the police departments ability to investigate, prosecute, and convict suspects of violent crimes against women. Federal funding is authorized for these projects under the Violence Against Women Act of 2013. All awards are subject to the availability of appropriated federal funds and any modifications or additional requirements that may be imposed by law.
