Consideration to approve a Memorandum of Understanding between the Border Region Behavioral Health Center’s Community Health Worker Substance Use Disorder (CARE) Program and the Laredo Fire Department to encourage networking, coordination, and referrals to help address the needs of individuals with a substance use disorder, their families and supportive allies while addressing behavioral health disparities in the program service area, increasing opportunities to reduce harms related to substance use, increasing retention in substance use and mental health disorders, and addressing individual’s medical needs and assist those who desire change to build a foundation for their recovery. The term of the memorandum of understanding is from November 10, 2023, through August 30, 2024. There is no financial impact.

Border Region Behavioral Health Center Community Health Worker Substance Use Disorder (CARE) and the collaborating agency will provide person‐centered, family‐centered, and recovery-oriented care, being respectful of the individual consumer’s needs, preferences, and values, and ensuring both consumer involvement and self‐direction of services received and/or The services that provide for children and adolescents are family‐centered, youth‐guided, and developmentally appropriate.
