An Ordinance authorizing the City Manager to amend the FY2023-2024 City of Laredo Detoxification Center budget by increasing and appropriating revenues and expenditures in the amount of $52,610.00, with no match for the City of Laredo Detoxification Center Department, and amending the FY2023-2024 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Position Listing by creating one (1) Harm Reduction Specialist, 209 position. The appropriation is for the funds received from the Texas Opioid Abatement Fund Council.

BACKGROUND
Texas, along with a broad coalition of states and subdivisions, has reached final agreements with eleven companies to resolve legal claims for their role in the opioid crisis. Nationally, the agreements reached with manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacies provide for nearly $50 billion in payments for state and local governments. Funding is distributed to states according to the allocation agreement reached among the Attorneys General. Through the Opioid Abatement, Opioid Settlement Fund, the City of Laredo Public Health Department will be able to implement a wide variety of strategies to fight the opioid crisis.
