PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
At the February 20, 2024 regular council meeting, Council made a motion to develop a resolution to support incentivizing that will support the development of medical facilities and consider the strategic overlapping of incentive programs currently in place.
BACKGROUND
Laredo, Texas is designated as a Health Professional Shortage Area and critical medical needs is expected to increase over the next 10 years. According to the most recent Community Health Needs Assessment survey, over one-third (34.8%) of community survey respondents indicated they had traveled outside of Laredo within the past year to receive medical, dental, or health care services.
