Consideration to award annual supply contract FY24-026 to Richardson Apparatus LLC, Johnson City, Texas for the purchase of firefighting turnout gear in the amount of $365,833.02 and to further authorize unforeseen related expenditures for an additional amount not to exceed $50,000.00 for a total amount of $415,833.02. This purchase includes but is not limited to: rescue suits (coats & pants) and other related items. The term of this contract shall be for period of one year with option to renew two additional one-year periods upon mutual agreement of parties and subject to future appropriations. Funding is available in the General Fund - Fire Department Budget.

BACKGROUND
The City went out on formal solicitations through Cit-E-Bid and received 2 bid submittals for the purchase of firefighting turnout gear. Firefighters require specialized and certified protection gear in order to comply with the National Fire Protection Association 1971 & 1851 and as part of the collective bargaining agreement. Although Heat Safety Equipment was the lowest bidder, they submitted an incomplete bid. Staff is recommending that this contract be awarded to the second lowest bidder Richardson Apparatus LLC.
The term of this contract shall be for a period of one (1) year beginning as of the date of its execution. The contract may be extended for two, additional one (1) year periods.
This contract shall be the responsibility of and administered by the vendor and the Fire Department.
