Consideration to ratify the authorization of the City Manager to enter into an agreement between the City of Laredo and the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in the amount of $6,666,666.67 for the interconnection of the El Pico and Jefferson Water Treatment Plants. Federal funding will pay for the additional $20,000,000.00 needed for the project completion. This agreement allows the City to transfer water from Jefferson Water Treatment Plant to El Pico Water Treatment Plant and vice-versa during a critical emergency situation. Funding is available in the Waterworks Fund- 2024 Water Revenue Bond.

BACKGROUND
These funds are designated for the City of Laredo Wastewater & Water Supply Infrastructure Project, Environmental Infrastructure, Design and Construction Assistance with the City of Laredo for the interconnection of the El Pico and Jefferson Water Treatment Plants. This agreement allows the City to transfer water from Jefferson Water Treatment Plant to El Pico Water Treatment Plant and vice-versa during a critical emergency situation.
