During the April 15, 2024 regular City Council meeting, Council motioned to proceed to second and final ordinance reading as submitted.

 

BACKGROUND

As per the Internal Revenues Services (IRS), it is recommended that employers are not required for employees to turn over jury duty pay back to their employer. The City of Laredo wishes to align with practices conducted by other public sectors by amendment of this ordinance for City employees to no longer submit over to the City any and all jury duty payments received for jury duty services. Providing additional language under Administrative Leave to allow the City Manager to determine if leave will be paid or unpaid.
