A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) for the Texas Recreational Trails Grant Program in the amount of $375,000.00, to create new trails in Deer Creek Park to provide, promote and support outdoor recreation, conservation, and nature exploration and execute all relevant documents as determined by TPWD. This notice of funding opportunity is on a reimbursement basis. Grant match in the amount not to exceed $75,000.00 will be funded with Parkland Improvement Fund.

BACKGROUND
Deer Creek Park land was transferred over to the City in 2008. The park lends itself to create a 10-foot wide, asphalt hike and bike trail of approximately half a mile. Residents already use the area as a means of active transportation. Construction of this trail will increase the quality of life of residents in the area.
