A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas, authorizing the City Manager to ratify the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $11,116.29 from the Office of Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division for the funding of FY2026 Criminal Justice Grant Program- Laredo Police Department (LPD) Mental Health/Crisis Intervention Unit for the period of October 01, 2025 through September 30, 2026. This funding will be utilized for overtime and training to the LPD Mental Health/Crisis Intervention Unit. No local match is required. Funding is available in the Special Police Fund.

BACKGROUND
The purpose of the Criminal Justice Grant Program, FY 2026 funding announcement is to solicit applications for projects that promote public safety, reduce crime, and improve the criminal justice system. We will be seeking funding to supplement the current resources that the LPD Mental Health/Crisis Intervention Unit has for assisting, preventing and responding to numerous behavioral/mental crisis calls throughout the year. This grant does not require a local match.
