City Council approved and introduced ordinance changes at the September 17, 2012 Council meeting.
Ordinance 2012-O-145 was adopted on September 17, 2012.
City Council introduced this ordinance on October 7, 2019.
Ordinance 2019-O-177 was adopted on October 21, 2019, introducing the creation of a Public Arts Program and a new division under Chapter 17, Library, Article II, Administration.
BACKGROUND
Revision is recommended to reflect new services being offered and services no longer offered. Fees listed above are suggested after comparing similar fees with other public libraries in the state of Texas (McAllen, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Brownsville, Harlingen, Dallas, and Houston"). The attached fee revisions will be included in the Library's Policy Manual.
This ordinance will clarify and align the Committee's duties with its intended role of providing recommendations and guidance to the governing body. Duties requiring operational, administrative, or decision-making authority are removed to ensure consistency with the Committee's advisory function.
