A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas authorizing the City Manager to accept and execute the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Fund for Veterans' Assistance (FVA) Housing for Texas Heroes Grant (H4TXH). The Community Development Department through the Municipal Housing Division received an award in the amount of $300,000.00 to provide home modifications for the veteran community within the City of Laredo area. The term of the grant shall be one year from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. There is no match requirement and funding is available in the Municipal Housing Fund.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
On January 22, 2024, City Council approved Resolution #2024-R-584, authorizing the City Manager to ratify the submittal of an application for the Housing for Texas Heroes Grant (H4TXH) provided by the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) Fund for Veterans' Assistance (FVA). The Community Development Department through the Municipal Housing Division, submitted an application in the amount of $300,000.00 to provide home modifications for the veteran community within the City of Laredo area.
BACKGROUND
The Housing for Texas Heroes (H4TX) Grant Program was established to provide funding for home modification and repairs to improve accessibility and quality of life for veterans and their families. The Community Development-Municipal Housing Division has been awarded the Texas Veterans Commission Housing for Texas Heroes for the 4th consecutive year. In FY2021, the TVC-H4TXH Grant provided assistance to eighteen eligible applicants. In FY2022, the grant provided assistance to sixteen eligible applicants. In FY2023, the grant provided assistance to fifteen eligible applicants. In FY2024, the grant provided assistance to thirteen eligible applicants.
