BACKGROUND

The K9sCOPS Grant program application is a request for a police service dog that is brought before the Executive Board for consideration. This application process does not guarantee a police service dog will be placed with the organization. K9s4COPs take great care in the selection process to ensure the grant of a police service dog is being placed with an agency that has the financial capability to care for the police service dog and has the experience necessary to utilize this highly trained asset to the greatest extent possible. The police service dogs are strictly for law enforcement use. If granted, this canine will be used to enhance the K9 unit at the Laredo Police Department in the fight against drugs.
