On January 20, 2026, Council approved Ordinance 2026-O-01.

BACKGROUND
As a result of the grant application the City of Laredo Public Health was awarded the Cancer Screening and Early Detection Grant from the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas. Through this award, Laredo Public Health will work Gateway Community Health Center to carry out programmatic activities in support of the V.I.D.A. Project. The intent of this project is to improve access to breast cancer screening, Hepatitis C screening, patient navigation, outreach, and advocacy services for residents of Zapata, Jim Hogg, and Webb Counties.
