A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas, authorizing the City Manager to approve, enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), and to execute all relevant documents between the City of Laredo, Texas and Laredo College to provide a Workforce Development and Skills Certificate Program in the areas of Hospitality, HVAC, and Pharmacy Technician. The City appropriated $200,000.00 in funding for this program under the American Rescue Plan Act Fund.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
For the last two years, City Council has approved 3 consecutive partnerships with Laredo College to provide workforce skills training, development training, and redevelopment training for individuals who may have experienced lay-off, furlough, or under-employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
BACKGROUND
This program will include a new cohort focused in the Hospitality industry as well as a second round of the high-demand HVAC & Pharmacy Technician certificate programs. These programs have impacted more than 1,000 residents providing them with job training and skills and workforce development opportunities.
