Authorizing the City Manager to accept a grant award in the amount of $2,500.00 from CenterPoint Energy to fund the 2024 Community Safety Grant. The grant funding will be used to purchase specialized police equipment. CenterPoint Energy will provide funding in the amount of $2,500.00 with the other 50% of the project being provided by city match from the General Fund for a total amount of $5,000.00.

BACKGROUND
CenterPoint Energy offers matching grants to cities served by the company through the Community Safety Grant Program. In 2024, the program will award grants up to $2,500.00, giving priority to applications focusing on safety equipment or safety-related projects.
The equipment or project must be used for safety initiatives in the community. Grant program funds will be used to leverage local funds.
