BACKGROUND
As defined in the Vernon’s Texas Code Annotated, Health and Safety Code, Chapter 121, “LOCAL PUBLIC HEALTH REORGANIZATION ACT,” Subchapter A, Section 121.033, a physician shall be appointed as the health authority in the local health department’s jurisdiction, subject to approval of the governing body. Dr. Arturo G. Garza- Gongora is a well-trained physician with relevant experience for this position.
