Title: Authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application in the amount of $1,153,412.00 to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities. This grant application will combine three (3) years of apportionment funding. Funding will be used for replacement of paratransit vans, purchase software, purchase equipment, and provide operating assistance. All of the projects will benefit El Lift Program, which provides services to the senior citizens and people with disabilities in our community. FTA share is $779,264.00 and the Local Match is $374,148.00. Funding is available in the Capital Grants Fund. No financial impact at this moment.

BACKGROUND

The FTA Section 5310 program, also known as the Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program, provides federal grants to states and local governments to improve mobility for seniors and individuals with disabilities by expanding transportation options and removing barriers. This program focuses on addressing the transportation needs of these groups when public transportation is unavailable, insufficient or inappropriate.
