RESOLUTION NO. 2026-R-107
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE TASB ENERGY COOPERATIVE; APPROVING THE TASB ENERGY COOPERATIVE INTERLOCAL PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT AND ANY RELATED DOCUMENTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Laredo, Texas (the "City"), is a home-rule municipality and political subdivision of the State of Texas authorized to enter into interlocal agreements pursuant to Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code, the Interlocal Cooperation Act; and
WHEREAS, the TASB Energy Cooperative (the "Energy Cooperative") is an administrative agency of cooperating local governments established pursuant to Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code and authorized as a local purchasing cooperative organization pursuant to Section 271.101 et seq. of the Texas Local Government Code; and
WHEREAS, the Energy Cooperative provides participating local governments with opportunities to procure electricity, transportation fuel, and other energy-related products, commodities, and services through competitive procurement processes designed to facilitate compliance with state purchasing laws and potentially reduce administrative burdens and costs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that participation in the Energy Cooperative may provide the City with greater purchasing efficiencies, potential cost savings, and access to competitively procured energy services vendors; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the TASB Energy Cooperative Interlocal Participation Agreement (the "Agreement") and finds that approval of the Agreement is in the best interest of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAREDO THAT:
