Final Reading for Ordinance No. 2024-O-246 amending the City of Laredo Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Capital Improvements Fund by appropriating revenues and expenditures, and authorizing the City Manager to implement said budget amendment for the finalization of the original design of the North Central ADA Park in the amount of $550,000.00 that shall include the extension of the existing parking lot past Sweden Lane and various amenities for the inclusive play area. Funds will be from a donation provided by Robert P. Gutierrez.

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
Council approved resolution number 2024-R-296 at the October 28, 2024 Council Meeting.
BACKGROUND
On June 21, 2021, Mr. Beto Gutierrez donated $300,000.00 for the creation of the first phase of an ADA Park at North Central Park.
On August 18, 2021, the City of Laredo entered into a Professional Services Contract with Slay Architecture for the pre-design services of the North Central Accessible Playground.
Mr. Gutierrez has requested the City finalize the original design and complete the ADA park for general public use by all ages and abilities as well as the extension of the existing parking lot past Sweden Land and any other improvements to North Central Park as deemed necessary.
The Parks and Recreation Department has determined that the accessible park and parking lot extension and other improvements to said park will benefit the community.

The item was presented and approved by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee on September 11, 2024.
