PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION

On Monday, April 15, 2024 Council approved an Introductory Ordinance to repeal Ordinance 2021-O-014 Employee of the Quarter and Employee of the Year Program.

 

BACKGROUND

The purpose of the Employee of the Quarter and Employee of the Year Program is to provide an incentive to employees to enhance the quality of customer service and to serve as a mechanism for recognizing those employees. A selection committee identified by a randomizer was tasked with reviewing nominations and selecting the honorees for each quarter.

 

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION

A total of 12 employees were recognized in 2021 and 2022. In 2023, the HR Department had a difficult time getting nominations and enough directors to be on the “selection committee” to review the nominations and the program came to standstill.

 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION

Repeal Ordinance 2021-O-2014 and replace it with Resolution 2024-R-139 which was approved by Council on Monday, April 15, 2024, authorizing the City Manager to fund City of Laredo “Project Excellence!”
