BACKGROUND

The purchase of two robotic inspection sanitary sewer cameras is a cost-effective and essential investment for maintaining and assessing the condition of the sewer infrastructure. These robotic cameras provide real-time, high-quality video inspections of underground pipelines, allowing for the early detection of structural defects, blockages, root intrusions, and sources of infiltration and inflow. Identifying these issues proactively helps prevent costly emergency repairs and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. The total cost for two robotic cameras is $189,700, a significantly more economical option compared to the nearly $800,000 required for two traditional CCTV inspection trucks. By opting for robotic cameras, we can achieve the same critical inspection capabilities at a fraction of the cost while also benefiting from increased flexibility and efficiency in deployment. Additionally, robotic cameras eliminate the need for large vehicles, reducing operational expenses and minimizing disruptions in the field. This purchase represents a strategic, cost-saving solution that enhances our ability to maintain a reliable and sustainable sewer system while optimizing financial resources.
