PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
On September 16, 2024, the City Council approved the introduction of Ordinance 2024-O-216.
BACKGROUND
The Laredo Water Museum, established in 2017, was designed to educate the public about water conservation, water treatment, and the Rio Grande. Since its opening, the museum has become a key tool for the Water Conservation Program’s outreach and educational efforts, offering free admission to the public. Due to its growing popularity, many organizations have expressed interest in using the museum for events during both regular and after-hours operations.
Currently, the museum does not have a fee schedule like other city-owned public facilities. To help cover the costs of maintenance, staff time, and equipment, the Water Conservation Program is proposing the introduction of a fee schedule. This would help offset the expenses associated with managing the museum while continuing to serve the community effectively.
