PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION

At the 09/02/25 council meeting, Council moved to cancel ordinance No. 2021-O-152 and start from scratch and work with downtown stakeholders including the Economic Development Advisory Committee, TIRZ #1 Board and the Business Improvement District Board public outreach and bring back a new vacant building ordinance and incorporate elements of the Bloomberg classes that mention ordinances for a vacant building in the downtown section. 

 

BACKGROUND

At the 9/02/25 Council Meeting, action was taken to cancel the City’s current version of the vacant building ordinance (ORDINANCE No. 2021-0-152), adopted in 2021, and initiate the development of a new ordinance with public input from the Downtown Business Improvement District (BID), the Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) #1, the Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC), and other relevant stakeholders.
