PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
12/07/2020 - City council approved the City Manager to enter into multiple contracts and award 2019 HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) set-aside funds in the amount of $162,810.00.

1. $112,810.00 to Habitat for Humanity of Laredo, Inc. to acquire one (1) vacant lot and construct a single-family housing unit.
2. $50,000.00 to NeighborWorks Laredo, to assist in part with the construction of a single family housing unit by acquiring one (1) vacant lot.

02/22/2022 - City council approved the Interim City Manager to enter to enter into multiple contracts and award 2021 HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) set-aside funds in the amount of $200,000.00.

1. $150,000.00 to Habitat for Humanity of Laredo, Inc. to construct two (2) a single-family housing units.
2. $50,000.00 to NeighborWorks Laredo, to assist in part with the construction of a single family housing unit by acquiring one (1) vacant lot.

BACKGROUND
A Community Development Housing Organization (CHDO) is a private non-profit, community-based organization that has staff with the capacity to develop affordable housing within the community. The City must set aside a minimum of 15 percent of their HOME allocation for housing development activities in which qualified CHDO's are the owners, developers, and/or sponsors of the housing. Habitat for Humanity of Laredo is a CHDO.
