PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION

Approved utilization of Purchasing Cooperative America Program on 9/3/19.

BACKGROUND

The existing water infrastructure is aged and has constant water line breaks, which causes interruptions to the system. It also creates water losses which in turn increases cost. Using a pipe-bursting method, will reduce the number of service interruptions, system depressurization incidents, backflow water contaminations, water loss from main breaks, and labor and materials expenditures. Also, using pre-chlorinated pipe bursting technology should reduce traffic flow impacts, restoration costs, and design costs.
