BACKGROUND
The City of Laredo Public Health Department wishes to apply for emergency grant funding through the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) under the 2026 New World Screwworm Direct Support Grant to support prevention and treatment efforts for New World Screwworm (NWS) in dogs, cats, and equines. Through this funding opportunity the City of Laredo will be able to support the City’s preparedness and response efforts by strengthening access to veterinary oversight, preventive medications, and treatment resources necessary to protect susceptible animals from New World Screwworm.
