A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas, ordering and proclaiming a Special City Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026; for: the election of a city official for City Council District VIII; designating polling places; providing for publication; applications for a place on the ballot must be filed by August 20, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.; and authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and enter into contract with Webb County Elections Office / Administrator for the purpose of conducting a Special Election; and any matters relating thereto.

BACKGROUND
The City Council shall call a Special Election for City Council District VIII, pursuant to Article XI, Section 11(c) of the Texas Constitution and Section 2.04(c) of the City Charter to fill the vacancy in said office, as vacancies occurring within the City Council shall be filled by a majority vote at a Special Election which shall be held within 120 days after the vacancy occurs.
