By restoring the truck body and returning the vehicle to service, the City reduces environmental impacts associated with manufacturing and transportation of new equipment, saves taxpayer dollars, and supports operational sustainability for sanitation services.

BACKGROUND
On June 24, 2025, Unit 6434 experienced a partial fire loss. The truck body remains in good condition and is considered salvageable. To reduce costs, the Department recommends rebuilding the unit rather than replacing it.
