Title: Authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application in the estimated amount of $77,935.00 to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division for the funding of FY 2025 Body-Worn Camera Grant Program for the period of September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2025. BACKGROUND

The Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division released the funding announcement for Body-Worn Camera Grant Program FY 2025.  The purpose of this grant is to equip peace officers with body-worn cameras and help further the department’s mission by promoting safety of law enforcement officers and citizens.  This grant will provide the funding to augment the Laredo Police Department highly successful Body-Worn Camera Program (BWC).  The BWC Program has remained a top priority and key component of the department’s commitment towards maintaining public trust and transparency.  State funds for these projects are authorized under the Texas General Appropriations Act, Article I, Rider 35 for Trustee Programs within the Office of the Governor.  All awards are subject to availability of appropriated funds and any modifications or additional requirements that maybe imposed by law.
