A resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas, authorizing the City Manager to submit a grant application in the estimated amount of $90,000.00 to the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division for the funding of FY2027 Rifle-Resistant Body Armor Grant Program for the period of September 01, 2026 through August 31, 2027. The purpose of this grant program is to provide law enforcement agencies with funding to equip peace officers with rifle-resistant vests. No local match is required. Grant will be accounted for the Special Police Fund.

BACKGROUND
The Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division released the funding announcement for Rifle-Resistant Body Armor Grant Program, FY2027. The purpose of this grant is to equip peace officers with rifle-resistant vests. State funds for these projects are authorized under the Texas General Appropriations Act, Article I, Rider 26 for Trusteed Programs within the Office of the Governor. All awards are subject to the availability of appropriated funds and any modifications or additional requirements that maybe imposed by law.
