BACKGROUND
The Solid Waste Department invited local high schools to participate in the Garbage Truck Art Project, an educational public art initiative designed to engage students in promoting environmental awareness throughout the City of Laredo. High School students were encouraged to create original artwork highlighting themes such as recycling, waste reduction, sustainability, and keeping the community clean.
Participating students submitted artwork that demonstrated creativity and conveyed strong environmental messages. Following a review and evaluation of all submissions, one student artwork from each participating high school was selected as a winning design. The selected artworks will be featured on City garbage trucks, transforming them into moving canvases that highlight student creativity while promoting important messages about environmental responsibility throughout the community.
