PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
City Council approved the donation agreement with Resolution #2024-R-201 on June 24, 2024.
BACKGROUND
The revenues for this donation were generated through registration fees from the 5K run during the police week and deposited into the City of Laredo general fund-special events/registration fees account. The Explorer Program Post 468 will use the donation for the purchase of essential equipment and uniforms needed to engage in community events and participate in area/state competitions.
The Explorer Program Post 468 is a not-for profit organization with a mission and purpose of preparing and developing youth in the Laredo community interested in a law enforcement career to high ethical, moral, and professional standards. The program offers young adults a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training practical experiences, competitions and other activities. Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through career development, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship, and patriotism.
