PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION

On March 21, 2011, City Council awarded a professional services contract to CDM, San Antonio, Texas, in association with Mejia Engineering Company, Laredo, Texas, Hickey Pena Architects, Laredo, Texas, Carrillo & Associates, Inc., Laredo, Texas, and T&M Engineering, Laredo, Texas for an amount not to exceed $732,102.00 for design and preparation of plans and specifications for the El Metro New Operation and Maintenance Facility Phase I: Fuel and Wash Building. Design work is to be on a fast track basis approximately nine (9) months. Funding is available in the FTA grant TX-03-0274.

 

BACKGROUND

Relative to CDM Smith’s areas of responsibility, additional redesign work by CDM Smith to accommodate Deductive Alternate No. 1 includes the following:
1. Separation of electrical power supply to site lighting, access gate from the deducted Bus Wash Building by:
  a. Addition of an outdoor rated power distribution panel to supply site lighting and access gate including.
     i. Developing new one-line diagram Sheet E-07A for Deductive Alternate No. 1.
     ii. Developing new site plan Sheet E-04A for Deductive Alternate No. 1.
     iii. Developing new enlarged site plan 1 Sheet E-05A for Deductive Alternate No.
1.
     iv. Developing new duct bank sections on Sheet E-06 for Deductive Alternate No.
1.
    v. Developing new panel schedule for outdoor rated service panel to feed site
lighting and access gate on Sheet E-19.
    vi. Providing specification for new outdoor rated service panel.
    vii. Re-coordination with electric utility regarding reduced utility service size
under Deductive Alternate No. 1.
2. Separation of communications connection to access gate from the deducted Bus Wash Building.
  a. Addition of an outdoor utility demarcation and outdoor panel for network switch.
3. Revision of drawings to delineate all removed Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical scope and added Electrical scope items for Deductive Alternate No. 1.
4. Coordination and indication of electrical and communications service drop locations to allow future installation per Base Bid configuration. Service duct bank can remain as currently designed.

Likewise, additional redesign work by CDM Smith to accommodate Deductive Alternate No. 2 includes the following:
1. Revision of electrical site lighting enlarged plan to delineate removal site lighting at employee parking per Deductive Alternate No. 2 scope.
2. No modifications to M-,H-, or P-sheets or specification modifications are required to
accommodate Deductive Alternate No. 2
