PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION

On August 5, 2024, City Council approved to award a construction contract to the sole, responsible, responsive bidder Zertuche Construction Texas, LLC., Laredo, Texas, in the amount not to exceed $1,467,410.00 for the FY24-ENG-40 Lafayette Tiny Homes Project (9 units and a community center) for the total base bid including a $100,000.00 contingency allowance, and deducting Alternate No. 4, Alternate No. 5, and line item 8.2 of Alternate No. 7 respectively. Funding is available in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Home-ARP Funds under Home Investment Partnership Fund.

BACKGROUND

This project consists of constructing five (9) fully furnished “tiny homes” all under 400 square feet of living area, a 1,000 square foot fully furnished community center, 2,500 square feet of concrete sidewalk, a 300 linear foot retaining wall with varying height up to 3 feet tall, a 5,600 square feet concrete parking lot with 17 car stops and 2 ADA signs, 3 concrete driveways totaling 650 square feet, 11 electrical meters with underground service, 350 linear feet of ¾” water lines, 700 linear feet of 8” sewer lines, a mailbox structure, and 6 ADA ramps.

Construction contract time for the project is (180) working days.
