A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas, authorizing the City Manager to ratify the acceptance of a grant in the amount of $58,451.25 from the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, for the funding of the FY2025 Body-Worn Camera Grant Program. The grant performance period is from October 01, 2024 through September 30, 2025. This grant program is to aid municipal police departments in establishing or enhancing body-worn camera (BWC) programs. The City of Laredo will be responsible for the required match of $19,483.75, from General Fund, for a total project amount of $77,935.00. Funding is accounted for in the Special Police Fund.

BACKGROUND
The Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division released the funding announcement for Body-Worn Camera Grant Program FY 2025. The purpose of this grant is to equip peace officers with body-worn cameras and help further the department's mission by promoting safety of law enforcement officers and citizens. This grant will provide the funding to augment the Laredo Police Department highly successful Body-Worn Camera Program (BWC). The BWC Program has remained a top priority and key component of the department's commitment towards maintaining public trust and transparency. State funds for these projects are authorized under the Texas General Appropriations Act, Article I, Rider 35 for Trustee Programs within the Office of the Governor. All awards are subject to availability of appropriated funds and any modifications or additional requirements that maybe imposed by law.
