Summary of alignment: This initiative strongly aligns with the Viva Laredo Comprehensive Plan, the item directly fulfills Goal 7.1, which calls for addressing the health needs of all residents through collaboration with local, state, and binational entities. By partnering with the Texas Department of State Health Services, the City demonstrates this collaborative intent. In line with Policy 7.1.1, the program is a preventive health effort that mitigates long-term health issues and reduces disease burden. Additionally, the program reflects the intent of Goal 7.2 to reduce exposure to environmental risk factors by addressing a communicable disease with known public health impacts.
