An Ordinance authorizing the City Manager to accept and enter into a contract from the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas for the Cancer Screening and Early Detection Grant, amending the FY2025-2026 budget by appropriating revenues and expenditures in the amount of $1,158,238, with no match for the City of Laredo Public Health Department, and amend the City of Laredo Public Health Department FY2025-2026 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Position Listing by creating one (1) Program Coordinator, 207 position, and two (2) Medical Office Assistant II, 205 position, for a two (2) year term starting on January 01, 2026 to December 31, 2027. Funds will be accounted for in the Laredo Public Health Department Fund - Cancer Screening and Early Detection Grant.

BACKGROUND
The Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas contracts with the City of Laredo Public Health Department for the Cancer Screening and Early Detection Grant. Through this award, Laredo Public Health will work towards reducing cancer incidence and mortality, reduce cancer disparities, and improve the lives of cancer survivors by promoting and providing hepatitis B and HPV vaccines, supporting environmental approaches that make healthy choices easier, and empowering people to make healthy lifestyles choices related to tobacco use, nutrition, physical activity, and sun safety.
