Summary of alignment: The acceptance and implementation of funding from the HIV State Services and HOPWA grants aligns strongly with the Viva Laredo Comprehensive Plan's health-related goals and policies. These grants will allow the Laredo Public Health Department to continue providing outpatient healthcare, testing, treatment, and supportive services to individuals living with HIV-particularly those in vulnerable and underserved populations. This initiative fulfills Goal 7.1 and Policy 7.1.1, which emphasize collaboration with state and local entities to address community health needs through preventive and coordinated care. The provision of HIV-related health services also aligns with Goal 7.2 and Policy 7.2.5, which explicitly support education, testing, and treatment for infectious diseases, including HIV and other STDs.

BACKGROUND

The City of Laredo Public Health Department wishes to apply for this funding opportunity by the South Texas Development Council to be considered for funding through the Ryan White Part B Grant, HIV State Services Grant, and HOPWA Grant. Through this award, the City of Laredo Public Health Department will be able to provide comprehensive outpatient health and support services to eligible persons living with HIV and assist eligible persons living with HIV and their households establish or maintain affordable and stable housing, reduce the risk of homelessness, and improve their access to health care and supportive services.
