PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION

On January 22, 2019, City Council authorized the City Manager to negotiate and execute a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Laredo and Webb County Drainage District No. 1 regarding access and maintenance of City-owned canals, drains, ditches and levees, detention ponds, ponds, drainage easements, drainage structures, and other improvements within the Drainage District boundaries.

BACKGROUND

The improvements along La Rosita Drive from 928 to 936 La Rosita Drive are neededto address flooding of homes at 930 and 932 La Rosita Drive that were not constructedat the recommended finish floor elevation. To address this, we are recommending theinstallation of a conventional drainage system comprised of 18” and 24” RCP, 21”slotted drain pipe, 30” HDPE, 1 - 5’ inlet, 3 - 10’ inlets, street reconstruction, and anopen channel within the park / floodplain area. This design avoids disturbance to mostof the existing public and private utilities but does require the adjustment of one (1)existing water service at 934 La Rosita Drive.
