PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION
On December 2, 2024, City Council approved a Public Hearing and Introductory Ordinance of the City of Laredo, Texas repealing Ordinances 2000-O-295, 2010-O-139 and 2023-O-027 of the City of Laredo Code of Ordinances. Ordinance 2000-O-295 established the speed hump installation policy for the City of Laredo and further provided procedures and priorities for speed hump installation, removal, alteration, location, eligibility requirements and cost sharing criteria; Ordinances 2010-O-139 and 2023-O-027 amended ordinance 2000-O-295; providing for the following findings of fact: repeal of Ordinances 2000-O-295, 2010-O-139 and 2023-O-027; repealed, severability, codification and effective date, and finding proper notice and meeting.
On February 6, 2023 the City Council adopted Ordinance 2023-O-027 which amended Ordinance 2000-O-295 and modified language in the policy to reflect the use of speed humps instead of speed cushions, removed minimum requirements of one official accident report from the special provision for the installation of asphalt speed humps, reduce the amount of signatures for the petition requirements, and to incorporate other changes to the established installation procedures
