A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Laredo, Texas, authorizing the City Manager to submit an application to the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) for the Primary Prevention of Cancer Grant, in the total amount of up to $1,000,000 with no match for the City of Laredo Public Health Department for the term period from December 1, 2025 through November 30, 2028; and further authorizing the City Manager to execute all documents resulting from the award of this grant. Any funding as a result of this application will be appropriated in the Laredo Public Health Department Fund - Primary Prevention of Cancer Grant.

BACKGROUND
The City of Laredo Public Health Department wishes to apply for this funding opportunity by the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) through the Primary Prevention of Cancer Grant. Through this award, the City of Laredo Public Health Department will work towards reducing cancer incidence and mortality, reduce cancer disparities, and improve the lives of cancer survivors by promoting and providing hepatitis B and HPV vaccines, supporting environmental approaches that make healthy choices easier, and empowering people to make healthy lifestyles choices related to tobacco use, nutrition, physical activity, and sun safety.
