On February 20, 2024, City Council approved Amendment No. 1, an increase in the amount of $210,005.00 to the professional services contract with Cavazos Architects, Laredo, Texas, for the City of Laredo Fire Station No. 10 Fleet Annex Building to be located at 11015 McPherson Road, which will include additional architectural/engineering basic services, and other supplemental services. Current contract amount with this amendment is $329,195.00. Funding is available in the 2021A and 2023 Certificate of Obligation Bonds.
On November 28, 2022, City Council awarded a professional services contract to Cavazos Architects, Laredo, Texas, in the amount not to exceed $119,190.00 to provide basic services including schematic development, design development, construction documents, construction procurement, construction administration and supplemental services including surveying and civil engineering for the City of Laredo Fire Station No. 10 Fleet Annex Building to be located at 11015 McPherson Road. Contract time is for the duration of the project. Funding is available in the 2021A CO Bond.
BACKGROUND
The Architect recommends to redesign the exterior wall envelope and simplify facade articulation by removing non-essential columns, arches, and trims from the design, in order to reduce the construction cost. The Design Team will also need to update the bid documents set to ensure compliance with 2021 codes, which were adopted by the City of Laredo in January of 2025.
